Find your people.
Your people are the ones who encourage you to laugh at yourself (and they laugh with you). They see you when you screw up, when you’re awkward, and when you don’t get the thing you wanted — and they show nothing but support and love.
They also see your successes. They are thrilled by your triumphs without hesitation or stipulation—and you are equally as excited at their accomplishments. They are inspired by you, and you are inspired by them.
Your people are not necessarily those who you speak with on a daily basis. Some relationships prefer sustained conversation, others do not (and both versions are perfectly fine). Your people are the ones who are there if you need them for any reason at all. There is a mutual and nonverbal understanding: “I got you.”
So why am I talking about this?
Because in navigating the world of medicine, you must find your people. This road is too long and too challenging to go through without finding those meaningful relationships. Do not do this alone. You must have people to laugh with, to cry with, and to grow with; you must support others and allow yourself to be supported.
Shout out to my people today. You know exactly who you are. Thank you for the endless love, support, and jokes <3
